Attention Parents of Boys in Band, Percussion, and Orchestra Ensembles:

Starting this year, boys will be required to purchase a wing-collar shirt, bow tie, and cummerbund to wear with their school-issued tuxedo pants and jacket. See the flyer for details. (Orchestra Students from DPM may continue to use their existing tuxedo shirts in the Lake Forest High School Music Program, provided that the shirt fits adequately.) Orders will be taken during uniform fittings in the first week of school.

Applause is the music booster organization for Lake Forest High School in Lake Forest, Illinois. We hope you'll use this web site as a one-stop resource for the information you need about concerts, Applause-sponsored events, and what's happening in the Music Department.

Major Applause Events and Activities

Citrus Sale (October 1-31): Applause assists students who are going on the annual spring trip abroad to earn money for their trip by organizing the Citrus Sale.

Spaghetti Dinner (December 14): The centerpiece of the musical year, the Spaghetti Dinner is held in conjunction with the Holiday Concerts (Band and Orchestra in the afternoon, Choral in the evening). It’s a very festive day you won’t want to miss, and a perfect event to share with grandparents and friends.

Grammy Night (May 26): This is the time to say goodbye to our departing seniors and celebrate their four years of music at LFHS. The students "roast" the teachers with skits and songs, the teachers poke a little fun at the students in return, and a few tears are shed during the traditional student-produced slide show.

Receptions: Applause provides complimentary receptions after each concert, as well as after the Honors Competition. Volunteer bakers are always needed for these events!

Newsletter: We publish the In Concert newsletter four times during the school year. It's a good source of information about all of the goings-on in the Music Department. Our most recent issue is available here.
